There seems to be a lot going on in our lives sometimes - most of the time I guess.  And so much of what goes on seems to be not good things - like pain, and hurt, and sadness, and just an emptiness.  I don’t know what that’s all about, but it sure seems to be there a lot. 

I had a friend who said something I never heard of before - whenever someone asked her how she was doing, she never said good, or ok, or fine, or even bad.  Whenever someone asked her how she was, she said ‘I am blessed’.  I am blessed.  I never considered saying that before.  Mostly because I don’t live like that. 

But we need that kinda outlook, don’t we?  We need that outlook of beatitude - of blessedness.  Jesus shows us how - far deeper than the superficial happiness the world tries to sell us, and that always leaves us ultimately unsatisfied. 

Jesus shows us, even in the midst of tumult and trial, not to put on a fake happy face - but how to enrobe ourselves with an abiding blessedness - blessedness that only comes from fidelity to Him. 

‘Cursed is the one who trusts in human beings, who seeks strength in flesh, whose heart turns away from the Lord….but blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is the Lord.’  Are we truly living the blessed life we are called to?  God help us all. +
