Every now and then we see the sign out there that says “The most important thing, is to keep the most important thing, the most important thing.” That’s what our Gospel speaks of this weekend.  The importance of hating your family.  No wait, that’s not it.

Jesus proclaims to ... Read More »

Happy Feast Day! Every year on this day we hear the same Gospel reading - the call of Bartholomew.

And every year the exact same part of that story always stands out for me.  The comment about why Jesus chose Bartholomew - ‘he found no duplicity in him.’

Our patron saint has a lot of interceding to do for us.  Because Bartholomew had a great purity in his faith, and for that Jesus promised that he would see far greater things than he could have ... Read More »

So much is complicated in our lives, isn’t it?  Rarely, if ever, is anything simple.

Except today.  Today is simple.  God proclaims to us today what He wants of us, and it’s very simple.  It’s not high in the sky.  You don’t need a degree in Theology.  It’s ... Read More »

Are you at peace?  That’s kind of a heavy question for the middle of the summer, but it’s a good one - are you at peace?

I don’t know about you, but so much in life works against that for me - or rather I allow so much in ... Read More »

How appropriate that our readings this weekend before Independence day speak to us about Freedom.

Saint Paul reminds us how we are supposed to use our God given freedom - by actually loving one another.  I read a quote this past week - ‘I really only love God as ... Read More »

If the Sharon Herald tomorrow morning had a front page story that said ‘Jesus Christ will appear at the borough building Tuesday at 12 Noon’ I think Sharpsville would be filled with people rushing down there to see the Lord.  Maybe even more people than drive by to check ... Read More »
